ABOUT |
Solo Sessions in a Nutshell.
We offer: Vocals, Piano, Songwriting, Audition prep and Workshop sessions.
Solo Sessions' goal is to impact musicians by helping them develop their talent to become confident and skilled performers.
After studying vocals at an advanced higher level in school, I was eager to share my passion and skills with others. Becoming a coach at Sing Academy Edinburgh in August 2018 and coaching three chorus classes twice a week started the inspiration for teaching. I then went onto gain a BA Honours in Musical Theatre at the MGA Academy of Performing Arts, and now audition for West End/Cruise ship contracts in Musical Theatre and vocals.
My training in musical theatre, performing at a young age on stages and singing at events for many years, has helped me gain so much knowledge and experience at such a young age.
My studies have provided me with knowledge and experience that I love sharing with my students. Pop music has always been a passion of mine and recently I developed a love for songwriting.
Expressing how we feel through music is something that I believe cannot be encouraged enough. I would love to help instil confidence in young performers and start a movement of a can-do attitude in the younger generation.
Let's work together and bring out the best in you!

THE CORE 3
LEARN.The younger generation (myself included) find it hard to concentrate, hone in on a skill and improve. Singing is no different. To become better, you have to learn new things. I use lesson plans for every lesson with my students, so they can keep track of what they have learned. They receive a personal folder that includes helpful tips and terminology that they may need. Visuals are something young people connect to, so using this in lessons is important.

PRACTICE.
Perfection is unachievable. During sessions, I encourage my students to try their best. "Strong and wrong" is my most used phrase. We would prefer our students make mistakes confidently and correct themselves than do it right but have no confidence! The three times perfect rule is a tool that helps practice become focused and effective. If a student is struggling with something, they repeat it three times, if there is a mistake, they start again from attempt one. Repetition is a great tool to improve as practising at home is challenging, it is crucial. We create or source tracks of the song they are learning at the time and the lyric sheet/sheet music, to enable our students to practice no matter where they are.

PERFORM.
Performing can bring nerves. However, nerves are something that you can channel into confidence. A shaking voice and a heart that beats fast are things we experience when performing. In a lesson, you will learn how to sing, play or act in a way that helps you forget surrounding distractions and sing or play the best you can, no matter who is watching.
Your ability is something that you should be proud of, you were born to perform. |
